3D modelling, part 3

A beta version of the environment and the props!

Seriously, I already feel closer to reach my goals. Which means, I feel motivated again :)

Short update this time!

3D modelling, part 2

Hooooraaay, finished the last two characters as well! :) It's the antagonist and the support character.

I remember creating this character for the first time in 2006. All I can say is: wow..I did improve! Too bad it took me..three years to improve.

Here's the antagonist: a vampire whose job is to assassin people. Even for "fun".

Well then, time to create all the props for the enviroment..this is going to take a while, hopefully I'll be done with that part at the end of this month!

3D modelling, part 1

Finally finished with the main character! Now it's time to create...the antagonist!
This modell is around 5000 tris, so I'm aiming for appr. 5000 tris per character. Hopefully I'll make it on time!

Concept art - part 1

I'll show you the characters for my degree project. I'm aiming for max three characters! I hope I finish modelling these as soon as possible.

The main character Azrael. I've redesigned him completely. He used to have more complex outfit, but I realized it didn't really fit the environment and his personality well, so I decided to change his clothes.

From left to right: Camouflage (antagonist), Azrael (protagonist) and Monsieur (support character for Azrael)

Design of the antagonist. I might redesign him slightly, not sure though.

What is Desert Rose - Hidden Truth?

Desert Rose is a graphic novel that I've been working with now and then for many years. I usually call it "the never-ending project" because I keep changing the storyline, the character design and everything that belongs to it. Although, I think it's pretty normal to go through that phase, right? At least I think so!

This project is based on my comic. It's a degree project that I must work with in school. I'm working all alone with it (might have some help from others but it's not confirmed yet!)

I'm going to create a short "video game" animation (around 5 minutes, might be shorter), with text dialogue, cut-scenes and a few gameplay elements included. I was inspired by the amazing games Shenmue and Resident Evil 4 for their action sequences where you have to act quickly. (link) (link)

Why do I do this?
This degree project is a mandatory in my school. Since I'm in my last year, we're meant to work with the project during the last six months before examination.

The reason why I wanted to make an animation is simple: I want to challenge myself and my skills in computer programs such as Maya and Adobe After Effects. I also want to try if I can recreate my traditonal art style into a 3D environment. I've been wanting this for such a long time and I'm glad that I can finally work with this kind of project. It's almost the same feeling as Dr.Frankenstein reviving his monster. Well, almost similar..

I'm going to update this blog once a week to show you my progress. Hope you look forward to my next update!
